T2 was a management buyout in 2004. Mel Eden and his team sell equipment for 'technology in the home' through newspaper reader offers, direct advertising, catalogues and the web. With a full time team of just 5 they have grown their business by nearly 25% per year, exceeding £7m turnover in 2009. The Finance Team have assisted them to set up their accounting system, provide monthly management accounting and analysis and run annual strategy sessions.
Mel says – "We do our own accounts processing in house, but it is great to have our management information put together and analysed by people with a rounded understanding of business. It's helpful to have someone who is able to stand back from the day to day detail. When our 'part time FD' spends time with us he leaves us with something to think about that helps us to grow. For example he was instrumental in pushing us to focus on to the web, which now accounts for 30% of our business".
